Few people are more outspoken about their love for the American dream than exile Lily Tang Williams. With the X handle @Lily4Liberty, she has become famous for defending gun rights and warning of infiltration by Chinese Communist Party agents and allies. She even joined the Free State Project and moved with her husband to Weare, New Hampshire, in 2019.

While her 2024 campaign for New Hampshire’s second congressional district fell just short, garnering 47 percent of votes, it garnered immense support and momentum near the end. A viral endorsement came from Robert Kennedy Jr., alongside then–New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and 53 members of the New Hampshire General Court legislature.

After many people questioned her about a follow-up run, she announced on the morning of April 9 that she indeed “is ready to fight for the people again in 2026.… I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of freedom, opportunity, and hard work, which is why I am the ideal representative for the people of the 2nd district.”

In keeping with her activist theme over the years, her campaign slogan is “Fighting to keep the American dream alive.” Her campaign statement notes that she “is living proof of the American Dream. She is a mother of three adult children—two of whom are veterans—[and] a self-employed small businesswoman.”

“I want to usher in a new renaissance for the country I love—and to serve with integrity, honesty, and transparency. It would be the honor of a lifetime to represent the people of New Hampshire’s 2nd District, who have welcomed me with open arms.”

Tang Williams appeared at a gun-rights event in Colorado, her former home, on April 6. While she did not share the news of her candidacy, she spoke firmly against Colorado Senate Bill 25-3. It is pending the governor’s signature and would ban “semiautomatic firearms and rapid-fire devices” to those without state-approved licensing.

Brandon Wark, host of the Free State Colorado media initiative, watched the Lakewood event and shared the following response to the candidacy:

“Lily Tang Williams has been an inspiration to the liberty community in Colorado, and I wish her luck in her campaign. I voted for Lily when she ran for the US Senate when she still lived here. People are ready for a change, and her uncompromising defense of American values gives me hope that she can win in 2026.”

One important piece of the puzzle appears to be the retirement of US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). That leaves an open seat in 2026, and that could mean incumbent Representative Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) will pursue that position.
