DOGE revelations about USAID have resulted in a public focus on wasteful spending. More harmful is USAID’s anti-American subversion at home and abroad.
Tussling with Democrats over what is and is not wasteful misses the point. The cabal that managed the Joe Biden regime is trying to protect the federal bureaucracy. It has been their greatest weapon to transform our country from a constitutional republic into a dictatorship.
Buying the Media Narrative
In his February 12 congressional testimony—“USAID Censorship and Disinformation Operations Aimed at the American People”—author Michael Shellenberger spoke about the “Censorship Industrial Complex.” He asked why the US government is the largest donor worldwide to supposedly “independent media.”
Shellenberger said USAID was behind the Trump-Russia collusion hoax. He explained that USAID had power over the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), whose information was used to impeach Trump. Former State Department (DOS) official and Foundation for Freedom Online Director Mike Benz told The Shawn Ryan Show that US citizens “who voted for Donald Trump effectively funded through Donald Trump’s USAID the impeachment of Donald Trump.”
USAID gave the Tides Center $27 million for Fair and Just Prosecutions (FJP). According to media reports, FJP is the puppeteer of New York Attorney General Leticia James and District Attorney Alvin Bragg. They both have George Soros backing and have abused their offices to persecute Trump.
The Sunday Guardian has reported that “The top three donors to OCCRP [for 2022] … were USAID [$5,233,749], US Department of State [$4,055,273], and [George Soros’s] Open Society Foundations [$2,357,504].” The initial US government grant to OCCRP came from DOS’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) routed through USAID in 2007. INL granted OCCRP $2.4 million in 2022.
Shellenberger said, “USAID and the State Department appear to have created a vast network [of NGOs and media] to coopt the international press. These agencies funneled $472.6 million to Internews, which operates in over 100 countries, over the last 17 years. Shawn Ryan asked Benz, “How much of the world is influenced by USAID?” Benz answered, “Every plot of dirt.”
Going After Those Who Dissent
The Biden regime used USAID and other parts of the government to suppress truth and promote lies. The regime funded media attacks on political opponents, often followed by persecutions using politicized justice. The attacks on Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani fit this pattern.
Guiliani was close to uncovering massive DOS and Biden corruption in Ukraine. Shellenberger cited the OCCRP work on Giuliani. Benz said the hit pieces on Giuliani were to destroy his reputation. The FBI raided Giuliani’s residence at 6 a.m. on April 28, 2021. Giuliani’s attorney called this “legal thuggery.” He had offered to cooperate. This is an example of the well-documented Biden regime politicization of the FBI.
Enemies within the State
Benz describes how the US government uses covert operations to get countries to adopt the policies it wants. This has evolved into using sophisticated techniques to clandestinely deceive and intimidate entire societies and their authorities. USAID drives this through grants, which are layered through contractors to make detection more difficult.
Benz said USAID’s charter allows it to intervene in foreign lawmaking and elections to pursue judicial reform. It is less supervised than the CIA or State Department. He claims that USAID has bribed judges and legislators and made a special project to target what it calls “election management bodies.” USAID’s objective is to prevent populist leaders from taking governmental power. It claims right-wing populism threatens democracy because it undermines the efficacy of democratic institutions.
Benz mentioned annulling the recent Romanian election on the excuse of Russian interference. The real reason was that globalists objected to the winner. The Biden regime offered carrots and sticks to Pakistani legislators to oust Imran Khan as prime minister.
The Biden regime enabled the Brazilian electoral fraud that corruptly took Fidel Castro’s anti-US partner, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, from jail to Brazil’s presidency in 2022. Regime intervention in Guatemala’s 2023 election fits the model as well.
Bernardo Arévalo went from nearly unrecognized in the polls to second place in Guatemala’s June 25, 2023 election. He won the runoff in August. DOS and USAID financed violence, threatened Guatemalan businessmen, judges, and congressmen, and revoked US visas to assure Arévalo’s inauguration and continuation as president. Without continuing US intimidation and with proper application of law, Arévalo would be removed from the presidency.
INL personnel met with electoral authority magistrates prior to the election. INL has no legitimate role in elections, just as it should not fund the OCCRP. A reason for the electoral fraud that installed Arévalo as president was to keep Guatemala open for the flow of illegal migrants and narcotics.
Benz stated that USAID, run by its administrator Samantha Power, used $1.5 billion of US taxpayers’ money to bring illegal immigrants to the United States. Power’s husband, Cass Sunstein, moved to the Homeland Security Department as a senior advisor to help illegals enter the country.
Many people believe the United States needs covert operations, such as electoral meddling, to promote its interests internationally. These operations, which still need more exposure, must end. They end up being used by deep-staters against US interests, including domestically.
