A group of 10 so-called centrist Democrats in June announced the “Promise to America” initiative. It rejects socialism in favor of capitalism, secure borders, public safety, fiscal responsibility, free speech, and patriotism. Anyone who holds these values should vote for Donald Trump-endorsed candidates.
The 10 Democrat representatives all voted for Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) for minority leader and if reelected will almost surely vote for him again. Jeffries said under his leadership “we’ve proceeded with a level of ruthless intensity” against President Trump.
A Party against Our Nation
During Trump’s current term, ICE agents have faced coordinated, violent resistance to impede them from their legitimate law enforcement obligations. There has been almost no Democrat criticism of illegal actions against ICE. Democrats have described ICE enforcement as lawless, brutal, Gestapo-like, etc. and have demanded reining in ICE enforcement.
The Joe Biden regime, with Democrat support, purposefully flooded our country with illegal aliens and drugs. Among the illegal immigrants were terrorists and criminals. Prosecutors in Democrat-controlled cities have protected criminals.
Democrat objectives today are to impede the legal deportation of aliens who have violated our laws and to hamstring law enforcement, putting law-abiding citizens at greater risk of violence. This is a concerted attack on our liberty and prosperity that will increase if Democrats regain power.
Aiding Our Enemies
Trump’s war in Iran is to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. Representatives of the supreme leader to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have made statements that reasonably justify the inference that they would use nuclear weapons if they could. We cannot take that risk.
With the exception of Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), virtually no congressional Democrat has supported Trump’s actions in Iran. Democrats’ lack of a workable alternative to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons indicates that preventing a Trump success is more important to them than a denuclearized Iran.
China is the United States’ principal rival and the leader of the world’s tyrannies. A strong, prosperous United States that makes China compete on a level playing field is an existential threat to the Chinese Communist Party. It and the other tyrannies need a weaker United States to help their regimes survive. Without China, Iran would likely fold quickly under Trump’s pressure.
Trump’s Western Hemisphere agenda includes confronting narcoterrorists. China has supported US enemies in the hemisphere. Low-level Cuban agents inside our government support those same enemies. Democrats mostly oppose Trump’s antiterrorism agenda and have belittled the State Department’s July 20 Cuba report.
“Promise to America” supporters argue that having centrist Democrats in Congress will impede the socialist agenda. Examining Democrat behavior during Biden’s tenure undercuts this assertion.
Democrats Work as a Team
Democrat unity in the House of Representatives during Biden’s first year as president was 98 percent. Democrats were close to this record in Biden’s second year, and they maintained their unity when in the minority for his last two years. The Senate numbers were similar.
The Democrat Party leadership has maintained tight control of its elected representatives. This control stems from funding, threats of primary challenges for those who stray from the party line, and punishment by Democrat-aligned media.
When Democrat leadership does not need the votes of moderate congressmen, they receive a pass to vote against the party to deceive their constituents. The positions taken by the “Promise to America” Democrats are meaningless when the party leadership needs their votes.
Republican candidates should credit the “Promise to America” candidates for their praiseworthy positions. However, Republicans should consistently remind their constituents not to be fooled because the “Promise to America” candidates will vote for Democrat leaders who will replicate Biden regime policies that will make our lives worse and weaken our country.
